Kindergarten Readiness Camp 2023

Play, learn, explore, and discover during Kindergarten Readiness Camp at San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum!

Going to school the first time can seem a little scary, but we are here to show you that learning with friends can be fun! Kindergarten Readiness Camp is designed for children ages 4-6 years old who are getting ready to enter Pre-Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten, or Kindergarten.

 

Hours: 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Ages: Entering Pre-Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten, or Kindergarten (4* - 6 years old)

• Maximum capacity to ensure a safe and educational experience: 15
• Full week sign-ups only
• 10% discounts for siblings*

*Campers must be able to use bathroom facilities without the help from an adult.

• Follow a routine and schedule to build confidence
• Develop social skills through play
• Practice gross motor development through dancing and movement
• Refine fine motor skills using various tools such as pencils, markers, paintbrushes

A Day in the Life of a Camper

9:00-9:15 Arrival Activities and Bathroom Break
9:15-9:30 Welcome Song or Game
9:30-10:00 Circle Time Story
10:00-10:30 Museum Exploration*
10:30-10:45 Transition/Bathroom/Water
10:45-11:00 Snack time**                                                                                   
11:00-11:30 Hands-on Art Activity
11:30-12:00 Math, Literacy, Science, Art Centers
12:00-12:30 Museum Exploration*
12:30-1:00 Lunch**
1:00-1:15 Transition/Bathroom/Water
1:15-1:30 Closing Storytime
1:30-1:45 Goodbye Song
1:45-2:00 Free Choice Activities and Dismissal

*Campers will enjoy indoor and outdoor museum exploration each day.  
**Campers are required to bring their own (peanut-free) snacks and lunches. Snacks and lunches will be eaten in the Indoor Classroom.
