Children will be a part of a team of aerospace engineers designing, building and testing spacecraft with NISE (National Institute of Science Education) component pieces. They will be considering the mission of each spacecraft, and the...
Kids will use thoughtful design prompts, bins of materials and tape and their imagination to create a space helmet prototype. They will take inspiration from photos of space attire from Mercury to SpaceX.
Even a future astronaut like Canadian Chris Hadfield was once afraid of the "Dark"! We learn about how he became inspired to leave behind his childhood fear of the dark and reach for the stars.

Join Escondido Public Library for a special Baby Storytime. Start their love of reading early.
Through experimentation, we will learn about how sunlight makes shadows and how the position of the sun throughout the day changes the shape and size of shadows, using NISE workshop materials based on the Children's book "Bear Shadow". Kids...
"Sunprinting" is based on the cyanotype process, which has been used by artists since its development in the 19th century. It also lends itself well into sun-based investigations about the nature of shadows! On cloudy days we will...
Moon Bear is trying hard to catch a fish and his pesky shadow keeps scaring away the fish! What to do about this shadow?

Craters on planets and moons exist through collisions of meteorites on their surfaces. We will use the technique of scientific modeling to explore how craters change size and shape. Kids will be able to answer the question: How are impact...
Through the technique of foil embossing children, will make a shining lunar landscape with impact craters and a "straw rocket" propelled by "kidpower" in orbit.
In this Peruvian folktale, Mole has to convince Fox there is something on the moon that is tastier than Mole! We will look for animal figures on the lunar surface made by impact craters too, maybe we will see Mole and Fox there!

Explore, discover, and uncover this Fall! This November we are inviting aspiring biologists and botanists to experiment and create with us during Little Explorers Fall Camp....
How to teach young learners about the nature of gravity? - through a hands-on gravity table where our physicists can observe the gravitational force of objects in orbit. Then we are going to mimic swirling galaxies through music and movement! ...
The universe is a beautiful place and our little artists will find lots of inspiration to create their own spiral galaxy with watercolor, oil pastels and salt.
Come explore the neighborhood of our solar system with astronaut "Cosmic Chase" through rhyme and beautiful illustrations.

How Are Snowflakes Made?
We will learn about how snowflakes and rain drops are made inside of clouds through chemistry, and learn the big ideas behind "surface tension" and " cohesion"!
We will make snowflake ornaments out of aluminum foil based on the Mexican folkart "Hojalata".
Mark your calendars and join us on November 30 for the largest international giving day of the year.
