Today you will get to make a painting just like the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian!
Activity best for children age 4 and up
Piet Mondrian was a painter from the Netherlands that became famous in the 1920s for his abstract art. Abstract art is art that is not immediately recognizable as a person, place, or thing. Instead, abstract art uses colors, lines, shapes, or textures to help represent an object. Piet Mondrian used the same colors and shapes in his paintings to represent different objects or feelings. He is best known for using: red, blue, yellow, white, and black squares, rectangles, or lines. Today you will get to make your own twist on a Piet Mondrian painting by creating a colorful collage!
