Follow this little, feathered owl friend through an exciting day of surprising discoveries. Then decorate an owl mask of your own and go on your own adventures.
During this fun mask-decorating activity, children will get the opportunity to design their own special owl mask. They’ll have the freedom to choose different colors and materials to express themselves and develop their creative and artistic skills. The different materials also provide an opportunity for them to develop their fine-motor skills, problem solve, and experiment with what sizes and/or materials are the best to use. Once they’ve finished decorating their masks, they can wear them and pretend to be an owl. Role-playing is essential to child development as it engages children’s brain, memory, and imagination; builds vocabulary and communication skills; develops social emotional skills including empathy; builds confidence; and develops motor skills.
San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum offers various programs that aid in child development. Check out the Museum’s calendar to learn more about what daily activities and programs will be offered each day.
